Books from my Childhood

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about your bookshelf -
What books did you read while in school? Were there any that you particular liked, or even hated? Did any become lifelong favourites?

I read mostly fiction when I was in school, so I guess this is the reason I've had a life-long addiction to fiction reading. Some of my favorites in school were:

A Wrinkle in Time

The Betsy Books (B is for Betsy, Betsy's Little Star, etc.)

The Trixie Belden series

The Wizard of Oz series (the original books by Frank L. Baum)

Alice in Wonderland

Through the Looking Glass

Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret

The Three Investigators series

Little Women

The Lord of the Rings series

Most of these books I still love as an adult. When my girls were younger, these are the first books I bought for them, and although they may not still enjoy them now, they still hold a place in my heart.

I still own the copy of A Wrinkle in Time (along with the 2 that follow) that I read when I was a child. It's held together with tape and love :O)

When I was growing up, my mom had her original copies of the Trixie Beldon series and I read them all! Loved them!

In fact I loved all the books on your list except (because I haven't read them, lol) The Betsy Books and The Three Investigators series.

I definitely think younger reading is where it all starts. Here's my link: http://thecrowdedleaf.wordpress.com/

The only book I remember really is The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.

I seemed to have missed a lot of those children classics, like Alice and Oz ...but I have to agree on Tolkien...all Tolkien.

I can't believe that I got rid of my copies of my childhood favorites. What was I thinking?
