SHOULD SHE
The afternoon sun brightens the forest,
just before it hits the horizon;
a small doe timidly steps onto
the crushed gravel road.
Should she cross this barren terrain,
or should she retreat to safety?
Prepare to leap if danger encroaches,
she steps into the road.
